In the durational performance „Intermoving Spaces“ the performer Andrea Nagl physically interacts with the materials stone, wood, metal and cables and thus inscribes herself into the found space. In a flowing process of exchange, a permanent change of the setting takes place, object, body and architecture merge into a moving image choreography.

We are approaching a foreign place. What narratives in the form of moving images, signs, texts, sounds and above all digital traces can we find? We create a picture of the space. We research and link information to information and thus try to explore the specific space-time pattern.
We create a fiction. We have never visited the real place ourselves. Our knowledge is based exclusively on digital artefacts.

We reconstruct, we assemble, we interpret and we create a new overall picture, an idea of the real place as the basis of our exhibition project. Using photogrammetry, AI tools, VR models, AR markers, performative interactions and live interventions, we create an exhibition space in transformation, a fleeting form of a network sculpture.
6 positions, 6 different artists with a focus on experimental media from UAS St. Pölten have taken on this task. 6 artists create 6 different interpretations and fill the exhibition space with their individual contributions, opening up the discourse between real and digital presence. Layer by layer, an underlying agreement becomes discernible: the artists‘ confidence in the abilities of experimentation, through which it is possible to give the existing world a new interpretation with the means of digitality.

The individual positions are in detail Catherine Spet and Janine Scheer-Erb with their Mixed Media & VR installation „Unreal things fly through space – A granular machine memory“ using current AI and VR tools, Christian Munk with his interactive installations „Layers of sandscapes“, the choreographer and dancer Andrea Nagl, who inscribes herself into the space in the form of a durational performance „Intermoving Spaces“, Thomas Wagensommerer who contributes his real-time installation „Soft shells“ via remote presence, and Markus Wintersberger, who initiates the project as curator and extracts further levels of information from the space in the form of „Reconstructions“.
The location has been decided: Great Liman Areal in Novi Sad. Novi Sad is one of two European Capitals of Culture for 2022. How will we succeed in getting closer to this place with the means of the experiment and to put the specific characteristics of this area into a medial light?

In doing so, we experiment with the defining materials of the site – sand, wood, stone, metal – and their aesthetic characteristics. A circle closes, we pass through the gates of fiction and reconstruct an idea from existing material in relation to moving images, signs, texts, sounds in the form of digital traces.

Projekttext:

WEATHERING IS CONSUMED BY THE WAVES INDer Ort steht fest: Great Liman Areal in Novi Sad.
