DANCEmotion

DANCEmotion | body ・ mind ・ heart

DANCEmotion makes space for time, attention and depth.
A continuous dance and movement practice for those who want to understand movement from within.

Rooted in release-based technique, somatic research and artistic exploration, it is a space to develop technique, awareness and individual movement through curiosity and continuous practice.
Rather than trying to cover more and more material, we sometimes stay with a question a little longer.

Autumn term · September–December 2026

A practice of curiosity

I teach by sharing a practice – and the questions that continue to fascinate me within it.

What happens when we don’t impose movement on the body, but create the conditions from which movement can emerge? How can we recognize habitual patterns, discover other possibilities, and move with greater clarity, ease and freedom?

One question has accompanied my teaching from its beginnings:

Why should my body work differently in ballet than in contemporary dance, when it is always the same body?

This curiosity still shapes the way I teach today. Rather than offering fixed answers or pushing towards a predetermined form, I share impulses, questions and anatomical information. We observe, explore, try things out and notice what changes.

You are the expert on your own body. What you discover emerges through your own perception and movement.

The studio is a space where you can be curious – where you can try, question, make mistakes, not know, and find your own way into movement.

How we work

The work is precise, technical and consistent, while leaving room for individual experience and exploration.

Release principles, Klein Technique™, anatomical and somatic approaches, ballet, improvisation and artistic movement research inform the practice. Rather than adding muscular effort, we look for support in skeletal structure, gravity and internal connections.

We work with attention and differentiation: noticing where effort is necessary and where it isn’t; how one part of the body relates to another; how movement travels through the whole body; and how organization can create both stability and freedom.
Sometimes, doing less allows us to be more fully present in movement.
Mobility can emerge without trying to become more flexible. Technique can become more reliable without adding more force. By listening more closely, habitual patterns become recognizable – and other possibilities become available.

Technique, in this sense, is not about imposing a form from the outside. It grows from understanding, perception and physical experience.

What changes?

With continuous practice, changes often reach beyond individual exercises.
Participants describe feeling more grounded and organized, moving with less unnecessary effort, and developing greater trust in their own bodies.

Movement Practice – schedule

The classes are different aspects of one continuous practice.
Each has its own focus, but the principles connect them. Grounding and awareness inform dancing; release principles enter ballet; technical research opens possibilities for improvisation and artistic exploration.

Grounding
Connection, support and the relationship between body, gravity and ground, inspired by Klein Technique™principles.
MONDAY 9.00-10.30, @das Margareten

Release Ballet (int.)
Ballet explored through release principles, anatomical understanding and efficient organization – working with the same body, not a different set of rules.
TUES 9.30-11.00, @Studio Move on

Dancing / Movement Research
Dance technique, set material and improvisation / embodied geology as a space for physical and artistic research.
TUES 11.00-12.30, @Studio Move on

Awareness by Gravity / Movement Principles
A slower and more detailed investigation of gravity, skeletal connections, movement patterns and physical organization, inspired by Klein Technique™principles.
WED, 9.30-11.00, @Studio Move on

Release Ballet (basic)
Basics of Ballet explored through release principles, anatomical understanding and efficient organization – working with the same body, not a different set of rules.
WED, 11.15-12.45, @Studio Move on

+ planned: Grounding online
THURS, 9.30-11.00 (whatsApp)

The practice develops through continuity. Individual classes can offer an entry point, but their connection allows questions and discoveries to travel from one form into another – and to become embodied over time.

* Every body welcome! *
