    A plastic ammonite moves through a sedimentary landscape.

    Placed on rocks, paths and exposed strata, the artificial fossil encounters a geology that once formed beneath an ancient sea. What is now mountain was once seafloor; limestone, marl and clay-rich sediments preserve the remains and traces of organisms that inhabited it.

    Over several days, the ammonite is carried through this transformed marine landscape, gradually approaching something that resembles an origin. On the final day, it encounters a fossil ammonite in the rock.

    Returning Home plays with an impossible return: a mass-produced imitation entering the geological material from which its form derives. Between replica and fossil, object and organism, present landscape and vanished sea, “home” becomes less a place than a movement through deep time.
